This can be an unstructured commitment to spend a few hours of that day in the service of your community, or you can choose from one of the many organized projects on our site.
Anyone can participate in meaningful public service on the Day of Action... clean up rubbish in your neighborhood, spend time with an elderly person in need, host a coffee hour to talk about community issues, write a letter to the editor about a community need, conduct your own canned goods drive for the hungry... the possibilities are endless. Add your ideas to the Day of Action discussion board.
If on the other hand, you want to do something more structured and meet new people, sign up for a specific event. New events will be added often and Kanu will alert you as they come online. You can also check the Volunteer Hawaii website where you can sign up for specific events. If you have ideas for projects or would like to set one up yourself, you can contact Andrew Aoki at Kanu Hawaii.
